Hugo Wong is a writer, photographer, and videographer based in Victoria, B.C. From 2017-2018, he was a multimedia journalist with the Peninsula News Review, a Black Press publication based in Sidney, B.C. covering news and arts pertaining to the Saanich Peninsula. His clippings are available here.
In 2017, he graduated from the University of Victoria with a degree in political science and journalism. As a student, he managed social media for Parks Canada, served as editor-in-chief of the Martlet (the University of Victoria’s independent student newspaper), and hosted U in the Ring on CFUV 101.9 FM, a weekly campus news show.
Outside of student journalism, his writing has been featured in the Saanich News, The Outtake, CVV, CFUV, and EAT Magazine. He created a crowdfunding video for LifeCycles Project Society, a local food sustainability NGO, and has photographed for the Victoria Symphony, the Tibetan Kitchen, and UVic’s “Let’s Get Consensual” campaign.
